I Feel Better Now

I gave up that big brush and went back to my favorite filbert.  I also tried to suggest rather than be so literal..  Some of the artists whose work I really admire paint in that style.

Kathryn Townsend paints beautiful paintings that I just love.   See an example of her lovely flowers on her blog here.   I would love to  be able to produce those gorgeous subtle colors.

Sally Rosenbaum is another artist whose work I can look at forever.  She paints the most gorgeous scenes of women reading or drinking wine usually in a garden scene.  She has published a small book of some of her works, which I bought and have just about worn the covers off.  See her beautiful work here.

  1. It's beautiful Virginia. I like the way your pushing yourself to paint looser, it shows in the painting. :))) And now I'm off to check out those links, art books that are so good it makes you wear the covers off is something I must see.

  2. Nice painting that certainly looks more loose. The flowers are pretty, and I really like the glass with the stem.

  6. So glad you are feeling better!! You must love your brushes! And thank you for your thoughtful comments on my post! I have ordered a Nikon Cookpix P7000, but it is entirely possible that when I get to the camera store I will choose a Canon G12 - they're very similar, and I go back and forth!

  7. Lovely painting Virginia. I really like how your background frames the vase and flowers, and your suggestive style is looking good! I laughed out loud when I read your husband's comment about hoping that you don't cut off your ear, because you're frustrated with your painting! Keep smiling and painting, because if it was easy, you'd get bored and stop painting. Cheers! BTW thanks for tagging me, and I hope to respond soon. I've just been in and out of town a lot, and then painting at art events when in town, not to mention going to work. Very busy but fun!

  8. Thanks, Kelley. I'll have to check out those cameras.

Claire, my ears are still firmly attached! I'm babysitting two grandchildren this week. It's the last week before school starts! I hope to get in more painting then.
