Red Plums # 2

8 " by 8" oil on canvas panel

This is my second painting of these plums.  I actually painted them the next day after the first painting, but I never got time to post them.

My daughter asked me what I'd do if one of my plums "disappeared".   I told her she could have them after I finished the painting.   I put them in the kitchen later and they really did disappear.

  5. Ha! having your painting subjects disappear is an occupational hazard of being a still-life artist.

Wonderful composition, I like how there is a path between the two groups, however the groups are also connected by a shadow, providing unity between the groups.

  6. This is beautiful Virginia! You have the look of the plums down perfect. Which I think would be really hard, having never painted them myself. :)

  8. Virginia, I had this whole comment with tons of plum puns and then looked up and saw that Crystal had already done that:))) Guess I'll spare you:)) Love your paintings. The plums are painted beautifully and I love your choice of background color. It is plum tragic that they had to disappear a 3 peat would have been plumtastic:)))

  12. I echo all of the above. I especially like the spacing on the canvas. Good negative shapes are important.
I laughed at the disappearing plums. Been there - done that
