8 " by 8" oil on canvas panel
This is my second painting of these plums. I actually painted them the next day after the first painting, but I never got time to post them.
My daughter asked me what I'd do if one of my plums "disappeared". I told her she could have them after I finished the painting. I put them in the kitchen later and they really did disappear.
Nice composition, and I Iove your colors. These plums just seem to glow. They're beautiful, Virginia!
ReplyDeleteLove these plums, Virginia...its amazing how many colors you see in one plum! Beautifully painted!!
ReplyDeleteNice composition. I always love the color combo of reds and turquoise.
ReplyDeletegood luminous color, Virginia!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely composed and they look good enough to EAT!
ReplyDeleteHa! having your painting subjects disappear is an occupational hazard of being a still-life artist.
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition, I like how there is a path between the two groups, however the groups are also connected by a shadow, providing unity between the groups.

This is beautiful Virginia! You have the look of the plums down perfect. Which I think would be really hard, having never painted them myself. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you painting again. Love the color combo and composition in this.
ReplyDeleteVirginia, I had this whole comment with tons of plum puns and then looked up and saw that Crystal had already done that:))) Guess I'll spare you:)) Love your paintings. The plums are painted beautifully and I love your choice of background color. It is plum tragic that they had to disappear a 3 peat would have been plumtastic:)))
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie. You made me laugh!
DeleteOh, and that's me Carrie Waller:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors in both of your plum paintings! Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteVirginia, The play of cools and warms are just right. Lovely fruit I say.
ReplyDeleteI echo all of the above. I especially like the spacing on the canvas. Good negative shapes are important.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the disappearing plums. Been there - done that
lovely plums...you really nailed the color. Good shadows too!
ReplyDeleteGreat jobs on your plums, Virginia! I find them really hard to do. Look forward to seeing new work from you . . . good to know you've got cleaning out of your system and gearing up to paint again!
ReplyDeleteThose plums seem very appetizing, lovely, Virginia!
