Wildflower photos

Turk's Cap  -  Hummingbirds love this flower!

The yellow flower is a Huisache daisy (pronounced wee-satch)

The red and yellow flower is a gaillardia, called Indian blanket.  The purple is Horsemint.

Since I haven't been painting, I thought I'd share a few wildflower photos.  These are on a vacant lot on our block.  I stopped my car one morning and took some pictures.  I was amazed to see anything blooming, as we are in a fierce drought.

I'm so busy trying to move--we have to clear out the house we sold and move into our new house next weekend.  My only painting time has been my weekly class.  I'll make time for that no matter what!  I'm not ready to post that one yet.

We are scheduled to move on Saturday, June 4.  Just a few more days!

  10. Good luck on your move!! And the flowers are gorgeous, is it near your new house or old? Wishing you the best with your busy few weeks ahead. Happy unpacking:)

  11. Thanks Sylviane and Carrie. The wildflowers are near my old house. If it ever rains again we should have plenty at the new house, too. It's further outside the city limits.

  13. Moving is kind of the worst kind of torture. Until you're all done and in your new house, then it's the best. :) Good luck with everything! And what gorgeous photos! I've never heard of the second one. Very pretty.

  14. I've been wanting to tell you thankyou for the tip you left on your blog to use yellow naples for highlights. It works well. Thanks.

  15. Caladh, that tip came from my painting instructor. She paints beautifully, and she uses that naples yellow a lot.

  22. A fierce drought...we're just hoping summer shows up this year. Spring didn't. It's amazing how weather can change dramatically from one place to the next. Hope you're all moved in and starting to enjoy your new space. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit when you're so busy.
