Of course I do have an excuse. I pulled a muscle in my back on the last day of our tour, and I could hardly get out of bed for a few days. My husband had to help pull me to a sitting position so I get up. A heating pad and lots of Advil helped me get lots better. But I just don't have any enthusiasm yet for painting.
I started a still life yesterday of some pears, but I eventually wiped that off. Today I am going to my painting class, which I just love. Maybe I can get my spark back. So I don't have any paintings to post. I think I'll post a few pictures from our trip.
We went to Rapid City SD, where we boarded our tour bus. We visited Mt. Rushmore, the Black Hills, Jackson WY, and into Yellowstone. The trip was fabulous. I'd never been to the Great Plains before. I loved the beautiful hills and trees.
My favorite picture is the last one. Our friend who took it called it "two geezers and a geyser".
Art is always in our thought. Down time is refreshing. Hope you feel better. Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip you had - but so sorry about the back problems. Hopefully you are well on the mend now. Don't worry about the painting spark, it will return and you'll be back to painting again with flourish! Especially if the pain is gone - I find it hard to focus on painting if I am in pain!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home safe and sound:) I will say your geezers at a geyser caption made me lol when I saw it on fb. Hope you're painting class gets you motivated. I always have a hard time after coming home from a trip. I think our brains just have to switch modes:)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit the last one is very good. You're a beautiful lady! Hope you find your painting mojo back soon...
ReplyDeletePretty good-lookin' geezers! Your trip sounds fabulous! Sometimes you're painting without picking up a brush. After an absence, I've always found I mysteriously painted better!
Don't worry about the block-- happens to us all. You'll be back painting soon!
ReplyDeleteIt is tough to break through that block, but you'll figure out how to do it! Sometimes you just need a few days (or a week or two) to walk away from it. I find that doing other painting related things will help me get back into the groove - like prepping panels or experimenting with mixing colors, or something similar. Good luck, and I hope your back gets better!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos, thanks for posting. I hope you get better soon and that the class was a bit of a spark. But, not to worry- it comes back and happens to us all.
ReplyDeleteI think we all get painters block after we come home from vacation...not feeling well doesn't help the situation! I say ..rest..for awhile then you'll get back to norm....Feel better!! Glad you're home safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the photos of your trip and I loved the name of the last painting, although I'd hardly call you two geesers. I've been so relieved that all of you Texan art friends are safe, especially after the horror of Carol Marine loosing her house in the fires. Glad to see you back, and just take your time with the painting. You'll be back at it and enjoying more for the break time. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOh Virginia you looked so happy. I am glad you had a great time but I am glad you are back. Have a blessed day and hope your back is better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. Angela, we were laughing so much because the persons taking our picture were cracking jokes and insults. But we did have a great time.
ReplyDeletehahaha..."geezer and geyser" too funny. You are both very good looking! Hope you feel better soon. Advil is a miracle drug. If it stops working...try Alleve!
ReplyDeleteHi Virginia,
ReplyDeleteThe opening at the Hunt Gallery in SA is Thursday 9/29 from 6-8. It runs through Oct 22. It's on McCullough at Olmos Circle. Hope you can come!
